I was in contact with the India hockey federation before we came here and they told me about this place so of course we brought our hockey gear to India. Not to give anything away before you do, but at the very least, I'm sure it obviously was a "baptism by fire" and yet clearly you managed to improve your "goals differential" by the end of the tournament!<BR/><BR/>As for what 'others' might say (or nitpick?) about your "name" or 'calling', all I can say is that I myself think that "The Hockey Volunteer" is a great and appropriate moniker for what you're doing and I say definitely "keep" it, as it reflects an inspiring sense of purpose clearly lacking in most people's life-plans.<BR/><BR/>There are plenty of 'volunteer' organizations that solicit donations to help them in accomplishing and even administrating their missions and the attentant (and VERY REAL) costs involved in doing so. That you might need a timely and well-placed "breakout pass" and an occasional "assist" on your "goal-scoring" initiative doesn't make the PASSION and HEART and EFFORT and TIME that you clearly put in ANY LESS of a "volunteer-ed" expenditure of incredibly precious energy, time, patience and purpose. Screw anyone 'nitpicking' your "name" -- "critics" are EVERYWHERE; "do-ers" are in VERY specific places 'doing' what many of us can only dream of...   <BR/><BR/>What you ARE actually "doing" reminds me of a great quote from one our greatest Americans, Teddy Roosevelt --<BR/><BR/>“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”<BR/><BR/>You ARE living this "gladiatorial" credo via an amazing "goodwill" endeavor -- don't let ANYONE, let alone "critics", sway you from what clearly IS an inspired and insiring calling. <BR/><BR/>And actually, "A world according to Adam" sounds like an AWESOME place and idea to ME -- KEEP ON PUCKIN', you Disc-Danglin Derring-Do-Gooder-Dude!<BR/><BR/>All and ONLY the "Black-Bisciut" BEST,<BR/><BR/>Mike</p>]]></description></item></channel></rss>
